REHABILITATION OF
ATLANTIC AVENUE VIADUCT
UrbanTech provided critical engineering solutions for the demolition and erection of a viaduct structure while simultaneously maintaining uninterrupted train traffic. Our team conducted a comprehensive in-situ study of the existing viaduct to establish precise design parameters for both the substructure and superstructure. This data was then used to analyze the impact of seasonal temperature variations on the viaduct's structural integrity.
To optimize the project timeline, UrbanTech performed a detailed feasibility study, identifying structural limitations and developing innovative construction methods. This allowed us to significantly accelerate the rehabilitation process. Initially, the project progressed at a pace of four spans (approximately 170 feet) replaced per weekend. Through strategic planning and engineering ingenuity, we increased this to ten spans (over 350 feet) per weekend, resulting in a 150% acceleration of construction.
Furthermore, UrbanTech simplified the temporary shoring system, significantly enhancing both constructability and reliability. Our expertise ensured the successful completion of this complex project while minimizing disruption to rail service.
